Through brick building, visitors will learn about four specific endangered species that the L.A. Zoo has worked to help save from extinction: California Condor, Mountain Yellow-Legged Frog, Peninsular Pronghorn, and Western Lowland Gorillas. Families will be able to build a LEGO® animal and contribute it to its LEGO® habitat + education stations and fun conservation actions each weekend with brick kits available for purchase while supplies last. Plus, exclusive zookeeper talks and special feedings to watch.

Earth Day Action: Recycle Your Old Devices Through ECO-CELL

In Africa, gorilla habitats are being destroyed by unsustainable mining for a mineral called coltan. Coltan is used in the manufacture of handheld electronic devices, aka our cell phones. Recycling devices responsibly decreases the demand for coltan, thereby reducing mining and helping save gorillas from extinction.

When you recycle handheld electronics at the L.A. Zoo through our partner ECO-CELL, a portion of the proceeds go to conservation nonprofits like Gorilla Rehabilitation and Conservation Education (GRACE), which works to safeguard the Grauer’s gorilla, one of the most endangered primates on the planet.
