As I enjoy the larger-than-life silk lanterns at the Zoo for another spectacular holiday season of L.A. Zoo Lights: Animals Aglow, I hope you, your family, and your friends are able to join us for this popular tradition this year. Every evening is filled with happy guests snapping photos at the many colorful backdrops, enjoying churros or s’mores, and playing with the interactive displays. Many corporations and other organizations hold festive holiday parties during the event, and GLAZA is offering several special evenings for guests, including Holiday Happy Hour on December 19 and a family New Year’s Eve celebration on December 31.

We at GLAZA are tremendously grateful to the Angela Collier Foundation for generously presenting this year’s L.A. Zoo Lights. We also extend our thanks to Corporate Leaders, Amazon and The Port of Long Beach, and Corporate Sponsors U.S. Bank, Hyatt Vacation Club, and Skechers, whose financial contributions supported the event. The generosity and community spirit of these partner organizations enables GLAZA to offer L.A. Zoo Lights and other exciting events to members and guests.

As we greet 2025 and launch into the new year, we hope you will join us February 1–2 for our Lunar New Year celebration at the Zoo! This weekend event will include live dance and music performances, storytime with Bitty Bao, a self-guided Zoo-diac tour, and animal enrichment viewings featuring animals of the Chinese zodiac. There will also be two special animal feedings each day at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Komodo dragon and takin habitats.

If you prefer a quieter visit to the Zoo, we invite you to arrive on a weekday morning this winter to enjoy the animals, the crisp air, and the beautiful flora at the Zoo. Many of our visitors and members appreciate a brisk morning walk around the uncrowded paths and the surprise sights and sounds of animals awakening to a new day. Whether you prefer a stimulating celebration or a quiet stroll, we sincerely hope you will visit your Zoo again very soon!
