L.A. Zoo Bloom: Opening Weekend

Spring has arrived at the Los Angeles Zoo with the inaugural ‘Zoo Bloom,’ the Zoo’s reimagined annual event commemorating the season of rebirth, wildlife, and the natural world.The opening weekend is full of special programming, including live performances, crafts, animal enrichment, photos with Big Bunny, and more.

Activities include:

  • Big Bunny and Photo Opportunities - Guests can grab their family Easter photo with Big Bunny or capture those Instagram moments with roaming springtime characters and fun photo opportunities throughout the Zoo.
  • Dance and Groove - 3rd Rock Hip Hop will be entertaining families and guests at the Zoo’s Rose Garden with live performances at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. daily during this opening weekend.
  • Celebrate Pollinators - Learn more about how pollinators help our planet through a variety of activities this opening weekend. Enjoy a special honey tasting provided by the Los Angeles County Beekeepers Association at the Zoo’s Rose Garden or head over to Treetops Terrace to create a custom native flower “seed bomb” to plant a pollinator garden at home. 
  • Arts, Crafts, and a Scavenger Hunt - Guests of all ages can get creative and immersive at the Zoo’s Rose Garden with an interactive Bewilder Craft & Scavenger Hunt.
  • Spring Swag - Guests can bring their own T-shirt or tote bag (or purchase one at the Zoo’s gift shop) to Treetops Terrace to create a stylish springtime souvenir. Self-Help Graphics and Art will be on-site helping guests screen-print their items to create a festive takeaway honoring the season.
  • Conservation Expo - During the opening weekend, guests can stop by Treetops Terrace to meet partner organizations protecting the environment. Guests will have the opportunity to meet with experts from Friends of the California Condor Wild and Free, Friends of the L.A. River, L.A. Conservation Corps, L.A. County Library, L.A. Department of Water & Power, the Malibu Creek Ecosystem Restoration Project, and the Orangutan Conservancy.
