The Los Angeles Zoo partners with Mockingbird Incubator, a recognized public charity in California, exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, to serve as its fiscal sponsor, facilitating charitable support for our vital programs. This relationship allows donors to make tax-deductible gifts that directly support Los Angeles Zoo programs including animal care, conservation, education and campus improvements. As fiscal sponsor, Mockingbird Incubator assumes full legal, corporate, and fiscal responsibility for the Los Angeles Zoo Nonprofit Fund, ensuring that all funds are used in alignment with charitable purposes. 

Established nearly ten years ago, Mockingbird Incubator is a member in good standing of the National Network of Fiscal Sponsors and has been designated with the platinum seal of transparency on Guidestar.

Your gift will continue to support the Los Angeles Zoo’s mission and programs. A change in fiscal sponsor would not change the purpose of your donation or how it is used to support the Zoo.

Yes. In alignment with the Zoo’s priorities and needs, donors may choose to direct their gift to areas such as Animal Wellbeing; Conservation Impact; and Learning and Community Engagement programs.

Yes. Recurring and monthly giving options are available and easy to set up online through our donation form.

Yes. For donors who prefer to give directly to the Los Angeles Zoo, which is a department of the City of Los Angeles, the Zoo maintains an Enterprise Trust Fund which is a 170(c)(1) fund. This allows the Zoo to accept charitable gifts that are legally tax deductible.
