In every season, we remain so grateful to GLAZA members and volunteers for your passionate support of the Zoo’s mission to save species from extinction. Recently, a powerful outpouring of love for your L.A. Zoo made a huge difference for us in our journey toward transforming the Zoo for future guests.

On September 12, Zoo Director Denise Verret presented at a public Zoom meeting about the Zoo’s new Vision Plan Alternative 1.5, and our members and volunteers showed up to lend their voices.

Your comments and stories were a heartwarming show of support for Alternative 1.5, and all of us at GLAZA and the Zoo are grateful for the many members and volunteers who spoke in favor of the Vision Plan. Thank you for sharing from your personal experiences on our behalf.

If you haven’t had a chance to rally for the Zoo, there’s still time to join those friends who have spoken up. First, September 23 is the deadline for submitting letters of support for the Vision Plan to the Los Angeles City Bureau of Engineering (BOE), so we encourage you to take to your keyboards! Second, after the September 23 BOE deadline, friends can continue to write letters of support for the Council file to help make a difference. It is critical that GLAZA members and their friends demonstrate support for the plan as City Council considers the issue. We are deeply thankful to everyone who has written to express their thoughts about Alternative 1.5.

As the weather cools, we look forward to many exciting fall activities, including our signature Halloween event, Boo at the L.A. Zoo. This year, we’re especially delighted to partner with Mars Wrigley, which is donating candies made with sustainable, deforestation-free palm oil for the two trick-or-treat weekends. We’d love to see you for this fun, family celebration throughout October.

There is much to celebrate this fall, including your warm embrace of the Zoo’s plan for the future. Thank you for everything you do for the Los Angeles Zoo!
