The Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). The accreditation process includes meticulous on-site inspection encompassing all aspects of the institution’s operation, including animal care; keeper training; safety; educational programs; conservation efforts; veterinary programs; financial stability; risk management; visitor services; and other areas.
Look for the AZA logo whenever you visit a zoo or aquarium as your assurance that you are supporting a facility dedicated to providing excellent care for animals, a great experience for you, and a better future for all living things. Learn more at aza.org.
The Los Angeles Zoo is a proud member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA), the global alliance of regional associations, national federations, zoos and aquariums, dedicated to the care and conservation of animals and their habitats around the world.
The Los Angeles Zoo is a proud partner with the Association of Minority Zoo & Aquarium Professionals (AMZAP) as a support organization. Representation matters, and the L.A. Zoo joins the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and other accredited institutions in working to increase pathways to the zoo, aquarium, and wildlife conservation fields for people of color in Los Angeles and beyond. We are also committed to collaborating with AMZAP to build a community of support for all current and future zoo professionals of color.
