The Los Angeles Zoo and Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association (GLAZA) are thrilled to announce the return of its highly anticipated holiday lights festival L.A. Zoo Lights: Animals Aglow, Presented by U.S. Bank. This enchanting all-new spectacle will run from Nov. 17, 2023, through Jan. 7, 2024, with stunning lantern sculptures, vibrant interactive displays, roaming live entertainment, and festive holiday photo ops creating a wonderland of lights under the stars. Step into an immersive landscape where artistry, lights, color, and sound meet the beauty of the natural world. This 60- to 90-minute nighttime stroll through the Zoo is filled with spectacular lantern sculptures that bring the animal kingdom to life alongside blooming flowers and towering trees for a one-of-a-kind holiday experience. Interactive and animated displays allow guests to become part of the  experience, including luminous swings, “holiday hopscotch,” a giant walk-in kaleidoscope, and more.  This year’s program features some exciting new additions that are sure to amaze and delight. Some highlights include: 

  • An enchanting “Winter Wildlands” set amongst towering pine trees and snow-loving animals, where guests will be transported to a magical forest where the northern lights dance in the sky above.  
  • Two captivating aquatic animal displays where guests will have the unique opportunity to view giant otters and piranha swimming and harbor seals frolicking, all from an underwater perspective.  
  • A mesmerizing “Dazzling Desertscape” set amongst Joshua trees and cacti with live roaming entertainment that makes the scene come to life.

Enjoy the spirit of winter with whimsical photo ops, warming treats like hot cocoa and churros, and the peace of the natural surroundings only the L.A. Zoo can offer. A range of other tasty food and beverage options, as well as cash bars, will be available. 

L.A. Zoo Lights Holiday Happy Hours offer an exclusive VIP-style experience for adults (21+) with two special happy hours with distinct themes: “Tinsel & ‘Tinis” on Thursday, Dec. 7 and “Ugly Holiday Sweaters” on Thursday, Dec. 14. The ticket provides guests with express entry to L.A. Zoo Lights along with access to a private lounge with gourmet hors d’oeuvres, beer and wine, and a signature cocktail. This event is exclusively for adults aged 21 and older and costs $75 per person.

This Family New Year’s Eve celebration is the perfect way for families to welcome the new year together in a festive and safe environment. Whether you’re enjoying a delicious meal, dancing with your loved ones, or counting down to the New Year, this event ensures that everyone, both young and young at heart, can join in the festivities and create lasting memories. The ticket price includes entry into L.A. Zoo Lights, buffet dinner, dancing, live broadcast of the iconic Times Square ball drop, champagne or apple cider toast, and more. Tickets cost $90 (18+) and $75 (2-17).
