Member Tour: Let’s Go Globetrotting! National Animals Around the World

Flamingoes

Sunday, March 17

10:30–11:30 a.m.

In 2016, the American bison became the national mammal of the United States, joining the bald eagle as an American icon. Did you know that the L.A. Zoo has “national animals” representing all corners of the globe? Baird’s tapirs, fennec foxes, flamingos, Andean condors, crowned cranes, Asian elephants, markhors, Komodo dragons, and snow leopards are just some of the world’s national symbols that call the L.A. Zoo home. Join a walking tour that highlights these animals — and the adaptations that endear them to their native countries.
