Ever wondered why sports teams are so wild about animal-inspired names? The NFL includes Jaguars, Falcons, Rams, and Eagles. The NBA has Bucks, Raptors, Bulls, and Hawks…and the Clippers’ mascot, Chuck, is a California condor! Major League Baseball is home to Tigers, Blue Jays, and Diamondbacks. In the world of college sports, various schools’ jerseys portray kangaroos, pronghorns, elephants, and anteaters. What is it about these animals that motivate athletes and inspire fans? Join our walking tour that highlights amazing animal adaptations and the “athletic” aspects of wildlife.
