Walk on the Wild Side presented by Skechers

September 28, 2024
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Free with paid Zoo admission or GLAZA membership

Grab your walking shoes and join us for a special celebration of World Gorilla Day with a fitness-and-fun-filled exploration of the Zoo. Follow our self-guided tour to see western lowland gorillas and other primates, uncover fascinating facts, and track how far you’ve walked along the way. With engaging animal keeper talks, special feedings, and enriching activities, this event promises a wild adventure. Enjoy themed educational stations, learn more about our partnership with the Gorilla Rehabilitation and Conservation Education Center (GRACE) and how you can help, and get fitness inspiration from our presenting sponsor, Skechers.

Stroll into these extra-fun activities:

  • Primate Education Stations: Find out fascinating facts about our closest relatives.
  • GRACE Info Station: Learn about our valued conservation partner that’s working to save critically endangered Grauer’s gorillas while engaging and empowering local communities in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
  • Eco Cell Challenge: Recycle unwanted handheld electronics at the L.A. Zoo and help save gorillas! Each donation through our environmentally responsible recycling partner, ECO-CELL, raises money for gorilla conservation efforts. Learn more about ECO-CELL and how to prepare your devices for recycling.
  • Live music: Groove to lively beats from Masanga Marimba.
  • Angela & Lulingu Storytime: Author Brenda Scott Royce will read from her multiple award-winning children’s book, which contrasts the story of the Zoo’s youngest gorilla with that of her counterpart at the GRACE sanctuary in the DRC.
